Fitting In Fitness

So now that you have the motivation to work out (to look great in your dress!) you may be asking yourself "When am I suppose to find time to do this?"

I know this dilemma all too well. I was fortunate enough to have a spin bike at home so I didn't have to worry about making it to the gym. But with long days at work, and living about an hour or so away from work, my days were cut short. (Plus I was usually stressed out and exhausted when I got home and just plopped down on the couch.)
I decided I was going to go full force - wake up at 5:30 am and go on an extreme diet to compliment my workouts. Ya, that lasted about a week. I hate mornings. Both my diet and exercise plan was just unrealistic for me.

I did manage to lose about 15 pounds before the wedding, but I did put back about 10 with all the stressing out and partying we did the few weeks before. Yet, I look back at myself in photos from the wedding and I'm really not disappointed. Sure I could of weighed less. Sure I could have had jiggle-free arms. But the overall happiness I felt about our wedding really came though in our faces and that's what was important to us.

Now, by owning my own business, it has allowed me to create my own schedule. I am proud to say I have a routine I like and stick with. Every morning at 10 am I go for a long walk and then do a video on Cox on Demand. (More on that in another post.) It is written in my schedule, so I am constantly reminded of what I want to accomplish. I also have a great motivator in my best friend who, like clock work, doesn't let me forget it's time for our long walks. It's my Jack Russell Terrier, Amber. Yes, dogs are great motivators!

So what does this have to do with you and your hectic schedule? Well, I hope it will inspire you to find something you enjoy doing, so it isn't such work. Take your time. Try different types of aerobics or fitness classes, get involved in sports, or at least get into a small but effective routine like taking Fido for a walk every day.

Also, if you schedule what you do, you are more likely to cross it off your list. Be realistic with your goals and when you want to achieve them. Don't schedule things when you know you won't be up for it, and do things that will prevent you from wimping out. If you were wanting to work out after work, try putting your workout clothes on before leaving for the gym. You will probably feel guilty if you decide to skip.

I know there are just some days that will fall through the cracks. But most days I just can't resist the sad puppy dog eyes and sighs of my dog when she knows it's time to go.

Engagement Story: Lyndsey & Bryan

How they met....
Lyndsey Davis and Bryan Bonetti met at the University of Arizona in 2002 at the end of Lyndsey's freshman year, his sophomore year. They met through mutual friends and currently live in California.
How he proposed...
He proposed this past Christmas when they came to Scottsdale to spend time with Lyndsey's parents. They decided to drive down to Tucson to go to some of their old hang outs. They went up to Loews Ventana Canyon Hotel to buy him a new golf shirt (this is the place they first hung out together with a group of friends). He then told Lyndsey he wanted to get a picture of them together outside before they went in. He told her to sit down on a bench to get the picture. He then got down on one knee and asked the big question! They drove back to Phoenix that night and celebrated with Lyndsey's whole family.
The details so far...
Lyndsey and Bryan are getting married in Arizona on October 17th, 2009. Their colors are black, red and silver and they have decided to go with a monogram theme invitation.
We are currently working on their Save the Date Magnets. We will post more images soon to show you how their details are coming together.

Invitation Trend: Wrap Around Labels

A lot of brides don't like the look of ordinary white labels, or even see through ones, on the invitations. I understand. Why create something so special and beautiful and ruin it with a tacky office supply.

Well a great new trend I am seeing (and loving!) are personalized labels and wrap around labels. These labels incorporate your design onto the outside or your envelopes without adding a crazy cost of printing. They are easy to assemble to0 - since they just wrap nicely around the envelope both front and back.

If you do not want to use the wrap around style wedding labels, then try odd shapes and sizes. This adds an element of fun to the outside of your wedding invitation.

Our suggestion is to let us take care of it all. We not only offer assembly services with our invitations, but can also address and mail them too. This is a great solution to have that perfectly polished look to your invitation - even before your guests open it!

Yo' VIP, Let's kick it!

What kind of shoes are you planning on wearing at your wedding? (Yes, my corny title does fit. ha ha!) I have seen over and over again, both brides and bridesmaids taking their shoes off at the reception because of how uncomfortable they are.

Now, I love a great pair of heels, but unfortunately standing in them for more than an hour or so I can't really take it. (and to think I use to work 12 hour days in them working retail!) That's why I decided to wear sneakers to my wedding. (That, and I am already 3 inches taller than my hubby.) It was a huge battle with my mom and grandmother - "Oh, Erin, everyone will see those pink shoes. Why ruin such a beautiful dress?" My thought - whatever. First of all, my dress was floor length. No one saw them unless I was holding my skirt up to show them.

Next, we had a theme with our shoes. You see, my husband and I grew up together, and both played soccer for our high school and college teams. Even some of our groomsmen played soccer with us too. So we all decided to wear our Adidas kicks. I got pink ones, and since the guys wore blue suits, they had blue ones. My husband wore a white tux, so he wore our other color, grey. Finally, I was comfortable. I was able to not only stand around for long hours but also dance the night away. Perfect.

If you don't have shoes you want your party to wear, and only need a pair for yourself, consider this option: Zazzle. That's right - make your own. On a recent visit to Zazzle, I saw they now offer customizable Keds. They are really cool. I will be ordering a pair with our logo on it soon - and you can too. If you are interested in having your wedding logo or monogram on your own shoes, Be In Love Designs will upload it to Zazzle for you. In fact, we are working to get our standard designs on everything they offer, but we will also put custom designs there when requested.

Here's to happy feet!

...and Baby Makes 3.

Today I decided to touch a little on a subject that may be in the back of all of a new bride's brain: starting a family. As I was wrapping my sister's gifts for her baby shower, and putting the finishing touches on her diaper cake (it was too cute not to share - so here is the photo), I started to think about not only my dreams of having some kids of my own, but also what new brides may be thinking as well.

My husband and I will be married two years this April, and we defiantly have baby on the brain. For personal reasons, we have decided to wait another year and let my sister's new addition take the spot light for a while. Yet many of my friends did not take the route of waiting. For instance, my maid of honor, Melissa, seemed to get pregnant almost instantly! (OK - maybe three months in.) By the time they celebrated their first anniversary, they had a beautiful baby boy in their arms.
Another friend, Micaela, waited only a year before getting pregnant and it was only because of insurance reasons. She comes from a large family, so she couldn't wait to start her large family as soon as possible. (and he's a handsome, full head of hair baby boy who was just recently born.)

Many brides start their wedding planning because the baby is on the way or recently born. It is defiantly an issue that I recommend you speak to your husband about before the wedding. Being on the same page about the details of your future together is very important. Some marriages end because of the lack of communication on this issue because one partner does not want what the other one does.

I will probably touch on this subject from time to time since it is defiantly on my mind. We will also be introducing Be In Love Baby that will offer adorable designs for baby shower invitations, baby announcements and young birthday milestones.

Whatever your feelings regarding children is, we wish any new couples the best of luck in their new journey. A new life is such a precious thing.

Napkin Origami

When you envision what your wedding reception is going to look like, you undoubtedly think of how your table will be dressed. It could be dripping with flowers, have cool centerpieces made with organic objects, or even just soft romantic candles to create the ambiance. One important detail that can help take a table from "uh" to "wow" is the napkin fold.

A napkin could be styled in a glass to add height to the table. It can also drape nicely around any favors your are giving to your guest. We chose this style since we had items that the color really popped against the napkins.

Other people choose to have a simple fold to nicely display their menus. Regardless of what you choose, it is a nice added detail to your wedding reception.

More and more weddings are taking place at home or other venues that normally don't have a staff to do the wild art of napkin origami for you. Yet most napkin folds are very simple to learn yourself. A great resource we found online is http://www.napkinfoldingguide.com/ They show you detailed photos and give instructions to create the napkin fold you want. Now you are sure to impress your guests with your napkin folding flair!

Video: Perfect Bows

Out of all the questions a client asks me when we do a consultation for wedding invitations, the most common has to be about tying bows. I understand the frustration in making a perfect bow - for the longest time I couldn't get it to not sit crooked.

Well, here is my secret to learning how to tie the perfect bow on your invitations or other wedding stationery: you tube! I first watched this, and then practiced along while watching, pausing and rewinding as needed.

I hope this helps all the "do it yourself-ers" out there. I now always get perfect bows and hopefully you will too.

Event at Sanctuary Photos

On our last post we mentioned we have partnered with Lillian Lottie Couture (ya!) and would be participating in a Bridal Reception at Sanctuary at Camelback Mountain. We thought we would share some photos from the event since everything was so beautiful.

While I don't have pictures of the dresses from the events, I do have one of myself (in the middle in purple) and the two owners of Lillian Lottie Couture, Jenny Pinto (left) and Meghan Lawlor (right.)

We will be publishing several posts for you to showcase their wonderful designs and upcoming events we will be involved in. These two are really great ladies that can help in creating your dream wedding gown and wedding jewelry.
