Invitation Etiquette : Declining Gifts

Recently one of my brides had asked for some help with her invitation wording. She wanted to tell her guests that they did not want any gifts and that their presence at the wedding was enough. I thought I would share some of the information online regarding this, since I had not come across this very often.

Gift Declining Wording Ideas
  • We wish to share our happiness with you, our family and friends. No gifts please.
  • The only gift you should bring is yourself.
  • The only gift we request is the gift of your presence.
  • No gifts please.
  • Your friendship and good wishes are the best gifts that we could hope to receive.
  • Your warmhearted wishes would be our most cherished gift.
  • Please let your good wishes be your only gifts to us.
  • Please let your good wishes for our future together be your only gift to us.
  • May the presence of your company be your only gift to us.

Love Quotes

When designing my programs, I wanted to include a nice saying about love. I combined a bunch of quotes from different authors to choose from. While looking through my wedding planning information, I found these quotes and thought I should pass them on to you.

Even if you don't plan on using them, really think what they mean. Then try to carry that feeling with you, not just in planning your wedding, but always.

There is only one happiness in life, to love and be loved. - George Sand

Marriage is not a ritual or an end. It is a long, intricate, intimate dance together and nothing matters more than your own sense of balance and your choice of partner. - Amy Bloom

To the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world. - Bill Wilson

Love reminds you that nothing else matters. - Amy Bushell

A Friend's Love says: "If you ever need anything, I'll be there." True Love says: "You'll never need anything; I'll be there." - Jimi Hollemans

One look One smile One touch One embrace One kiss One love Two people Two minds Two souls Two destinies One road One journey One ending Together. - Melissa Higgins

You don't marry someone you can live with, you marry the person who you cannot live without -Unknown

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. - The Bible : 1 Corinthians 13:4
