Holidays + Wedding Planning = Stress

Every year we get the pleasure of braving a crowd at the mall, searching for the best gift, cooking and baking elegant meals, and dealing with all of our relatives. Throw wedding planning into the mix, and you might just explode from all the pressure your under.

Be In Love Designs knows this stress all too well. In fact, we ourselves are dealing with the same thing. How, you might ask? Well, no, we aren't planning a wedding, but we are planning a wedding website. We are currently in the middle of adding our fabulous products to the site for ordering. We are also preparing a booth for the Phoenix Bridal Fashion Debut in January.

Truthfully, with all this pressure, adding the holidays into the mix almost seems laughable. That's why we decided to give our brides and grooms some tips on how to weather the storm.

A great way to de-stress is an obvious one - get a massage. Your body can tell a lot about your emotional state by the healthiness of it. Work some of those stress knots out by booking an appointment. Many spas are running discounts that will work to your advantage.

Another great way to de-stress is to go for a walk. I myself have made a promise to our dogs that they will get a long walk almost every day. Not only are they happier for it, but I am finding that being outdoors has been giving me the calming effect I've been looking for. I also try to work on my laptop outside when I can and enjoy the beautiful garden my husband has planted for me.

Finally, spend some time with your friends. It's amazing how better you feel when you connect with those close to you. Not only do they lift your spirits, but they will also listen to your problems and give you advice.

Now we know you have limited time. Yet, you will not only feel better but will also preform better at whatever task you are doing if your mind is not flustered. Always remember how strong you are and that you will survive it!

Lessons of this post:
• Learn to de-stress
• Take time for yourself
• Get a massage, take a walk, enjoy nature, seek comfort in friends
• Remember you are strong and you will survive the tough times

The Great Debate

As much of the country finds their way to the polls today, I took a moment to ponder all the "for" and "against" arguments of the election. It seems people's opinions became more vocal than ever before. While this great nation of ours does give us the freedom to choose both who we want and what we want them to do, it is not so in every life matter. To be specific, weddings are usually decided on by only the Bride and Groom, and possibly a few close family members and friends.

Just like the elections, not everyone is going to be happy with the decisions you make for your big day. Although you want everyone to enjoy themselves and possibly comment on how good the food and music was, it is ultimately your choices that shape the wedding.

Now, at Be In Love Designs, we do believe that your wedding should be planned and carried out the way you want. Yet we want you to remember you have guests attending the wedding that might not agree with your choices - and it's OK.

A great example of this: you and your fiance' love hamburgers, but half of your guest list is vegetarian. Choose to serve mini hamburgers as an appetizer instead of as your main meal. If you take the time to compare what you want for your wedding to what it will take to please those attending the wedding, you can have a well executed event that everyone will enjoy.

Lessons of this post:
• Look at BOTH what you want and what your guests will like.
• Make simple changes or "meet in the middle" decisions to have the best of both worlds, and possibly avoid problems with other demanding guests.
• Don't forget to vote today!

Peter Merry

In September, Be In Love Designs attended the Wedding Business Merchants Convention in Phoenix. One of the speakers there was a DJ by the name of Peter Merry. We were OVERLY impressed by this man’s presentations (he spoke twice) AND his personality. He is one of the top Wedding DJs in the industry and we could easily see why.

Why were we so impressed? Both of his presentations had a few of the same underlying themes: think outside of the box and be positive.

Now, I know these presentations were for wedding vendors, but I think they apply to all brides and grooms as well. Things are going to happen that you just can’t control. All Bridezillas and Groomzillas will try, but it is almost impossible. That is why we agree with carefully planning all the details to help avoid possible catastrophes. Yet if you focus on all the positive aspects of the wedding, you really won’t look back in regret.

Also, thinking outside the box (and on your feet) helps deal with those pesky situations to possibly turn them into the most memorable moments that weren’t even planned.

But don’t just take our word for it. Please check out Peter’s new book, “The Best Wedding Reception…Ever!” He not only helps you plan a fabulous reception, but gives you a heads up on possible situations you might not thought of. He also gives you timelines that correspond with the stories of real weddings he has been a part of. Best of all, his joyous personality really shows through in his book. This DJ truly knows the meaning of having fun.

Lessons of the day:
• Think Positive!
• Plan ahead to avoid problems.
• Think on your feet.
• Have Fun!
